On this day years back I went to New Orleans, Louisiana for the first time as an adult. The initial reason was to experience Mardi Gras. But NOLA had more in mind for me. I enjoyed the dancing in the streets, hospitality of the residents, and of course the food (Ooooooo… the beignets). Let me not forget to mention the live music everywhere I turned. I would feel the sounds run through me like water. As notes of previous songs of times before that are imbedded in the buildings and streets greet me with a, “Hey Baby!”
It makes sense that people from all over the world flock to New Orleans, Louisiana. Yes, many may come to visit the famous Bourbon Street. I choose to think many are seeking a certain feeling. That is liberation. Mardi Gras was created to feast before the time of fasting in observance with Lent (a religious holiday.) Yet it has become a practice, ritual, to others of various beliefs.
What I noticed of the participants of the celebration, including myself, was a release. A letting go of the woes of where they are from. Letting go of the limitations of what we put on ourselves to be accepted in society. But not accepting ourselves. What may be considered as acting wild may be a message screaming, “I want to be free to be me.”
When we are being our true selves we are in harmony. This creates wellbeing. There is nothing like allowing yourself to be as you truly are. This means if you know that deep feeling inside, it is saying to you to go after that job you really want because you are miserable in the current one. It is time for liberation. This means if you have been residing in a place that you have wanted to leave for a while. It is time for liberation. If you have been experiencing anything that makes you feel stuck and yearning for personal growth. Liberate! Allow yourself to celebrate your life by living in a way that is more than on holidays or vacations. Live in a way that induces the state of being well. Which grants peace of mind. And more days will be a feast. An enjoyment from consuming precious moments of you being your best self. More experiences that feed your soul that make you have a party inside your body.
Be well to enjoy life!
