How the Chicago Bears Won the Game

I know little about football. However, I understand the goal is to get touchdowns. Yards need to be gained to achieve this. When I do watch football games it is in admiration of the players being able to run towards the goal without getting tackled. And if that happens, they rise to keep going. Hmmm … isn’t that interesting.

Last night I witnessed that of the Chicago Bears game. Though the team did not win the game due to points, in my eyes they did win. According to the available information and updates from family members who viewed the game, the Bears have not qualified for the playoffs in recent seasons. Which relates to why their supporters were happy to see them go that far.

I reveled in listening to my husband, sons, and grandson cheer on their favorite team. And singing the eighty plus years anthem Bear Down. On the television screen the fans that filled Soldier Field stadium, in frigid temperatures, roared their delight as well.

This is the reasoning behind me going to different sports games. Whether it be American football, soccer (also football), basketball, and baseball. I enjoy watching the teams play but I love observing the crowd.

What I have gathered is the sports teams represent hope. It is more than the players; it is what the fans see in them that mirrors something in their lives. It can be the resilience to weather storms as the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams demonstrated in the cold as they played. A resemblance of what the supporters may be experiencing. Because we are all on a field. We all are going through the steps of life, gaining yards, to reach our goals.

Sometimes we need to watch others achieve the impossible to promote us to strive towards our desires. The push of positive hormones through our bodies reduces stress and boosts our mood. Watching the teams work together to win the game shows us the importance of togetherness. Watching the Chicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers at a sports bar a few weeks ago made me smile.  At the end there were people who did not know each other hugging, giving high-fives, and talking that otherwise would not have had if the game was not on.

For these reasons, I have come to my own conclusion that the Chicago Bears did win. They fueled the hearts of fans to believe in the team again and themselves.

Well wishes,
